Rob Hastings of The Independent wrote a simple yet good review of Ennio Morricone’s concert at the O2 arena with the Czech National Symphony. Who is Ennio Morricone? He is one of the greatest soundtrack composers of all time (in my humble opinion).
In order to assess his great ear for sound, one need only listen to his theme for The Good, The Bad & The Ugly. Frankly, it’s almost inpossible to describe the sounds with mere words, so Hastings didn’t attempt it either. For a movie that’s mostly just about people shooting each other in the old west, it sure has a lot of nuance, and Morricone’s music really provided much of it.
Hastings notes that the venue wasn’t so grand, but that it was fantastic to see Morricone so vibrant in his advancing years. So, in order to make his review — and my review of his review — more exciting, just slap on some Morricone music, and try not to feel a little more profound for doing so.
